What to know Before going Vegan

    1.  How to transition from eating meat to vegan
  • I highly suggest not going "cold turkey" (Pun Intended). I've tried this and it makes you crave meat even more because you can't have it. Be Reasonable with yourself and take Baby Steps if Need be.
  • What My Husband and I found helpful was to first Cut out Red Meat and Poultry out of our Diet, but still ate Seafood , Dairy and Eggs. Then the Next Step was to Quit eating Seafood, and Eggs, Still eating Dairy but not too often. After we got used to that we cut out all dairy out of our Diet.
   2.   Try to Rethink your Grocery Shopping, And try to incorporate Meat alternatives In your Shopping and Meal Planning. Avoid the Meat aisles.

       3.   It will take about 3 weeks for your body to adjust to a Vegan diet. Don't be discouraged. Give it about 6 weeks to see if it's doing anything for you.

       4.   Changing from eating meat and dairy to only eating fruits, Vegetables, grains, and legumes, may give you intestinal discomforts. It's a drastic change for some, and produce has a lot of fiber, and you have to eat a great amount to fill your stomach up. So prepare for maybe having intestinal issues (mostly gas)

      5.   "Cheating" or eating meat or dairy sometime might cause you intestinal issues. When your body is adjusted to a Vegan diet, eating meat or dairy may not be the best thing for your gut.

      6.   Being Vegan calls for planning ahead. Organize yourself well and it will make it easier.

      7.   Research what nutrients your going to need in your diet now that you won't be eating meat or dairy. (omega 3,6,9, vitamin b12, iron, etc) many of these you can get from plants.
